Bio
Sanmi (Oluwasanmi) Koyejo is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Stanford University and an adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Koyejo leads Stanford Trustworthy AI Research (STAIR), working to develop the principles and practice of trustworthy machine learning, focusing on applications to neuroscience and healthcare. Koyejo completed a Ph.D. at the University of Texas at Austin, and postdoctoral research at Stanford University. Koyejo has been the recipient of several awards, including a best paper award from the conference on uncertainty in artificial intelligence, a Skip Ellis Early Career Award, a Sloan Fellowship, a Terman faculty fellowship, an NSF CAREER award, a Kavli Fellowship, an IJCAI early career spotlight, and a trainee award from the Organization for Human Brain Mapping. Koyejo spends time at Google as a part of the Brain team, serves on the Neural Information Processing Systems Foundation Board, the Association for Health Learning and Inference Board, and as president of the Black in AI organization.
Bio
Marija Stanojevic is a PhD student and Research Assistant at Center for Data Analytics and Biomedical Informatics, Temple University, Philadelphia, US. Her main research focus is language representation and understanding. Marija’s interests are natural language processing, machine learning, data mining, statistics, deep learning and education. Before coming to Temple, she worked for year and half as a data software engineer at Arbor Education Partners, UK educational technology scale up. Marija finished master studies in signal processing and bachelor in software engineering at University of Belgrade, Serbia.
She is a member of ACM and ACM-W organisations and she volunteers at TechGirlz delivering computer science workshops to middle school girls to get them interested in different areas of this field. She is a winner of Temple’s most prestigious, presidential, fellowship for PhD students. While she was an undergraduate student she worked on many projects and in different European teams as part of Board of European Students of Technology. As high school student she founded International Science Festival “Science is not Boogeyman” that is having its 10th edition this year.
